Terrie graduated from the University of Wollongong, NSW, Australia and worked as a counselor of teens and families. Terrie is a lifelong camper and has spent the past 20 season working at camp having held positions of instructor, inclusion counselor, program specialist, CIT Director, Special Events Director, Outdoor Program Staff and Director in camps both in Australia and the US. She has worked for camps operated by the Australian Government, Girl Scouts, YMCA and 4H. Terrie believes in the positive impact of the camp experience for all youth, especially in the inclusive environment of Camp Howe.

Heidi is a graduate of Springfield College with a degree in Outdoor Leadership. She graduated with top honors and was awarded the Graduating Student Award. She has attended  (as a camper and staff member) camps for the past 22 summers. For the past 12 years she has worked at different camps including Girls Scouts, YMCA and 4-H. Heidi is a child at heart and works tirelessly to ensure that Camp Howe campers have a safe and enjoyable growing experience.

"This is my third year at Camp Howe as the nurse and I love it! The kids and the staff are fantastic and I really enjoy being their nurse. My favorite things are meeting different people from all over the world and being outdoors! You can usually find me sitting under a tree near the infirmary reading a book or joining in camp activities ( I'm just a big kid). I also have fun giving out the cleanest cabin award each day, yes, even cleaning up at Camp is FUN! When I'm not at Camp Howe I live in Amherst, Massachusetts with Sam, Johann, and Lukas and their dad Klaus and our 2 dwarf rabbits Tater Tot and Midnight. We all go to Camp Howe together, even the bunnies, except Klaus who has to stay home and work. We can't wait to be there again this year!"

"My name is Anna and I am a student of Scottish Law. My favorite food is chocolate without a doubt! I'm scared of wasps and bees and I reckon I’ll be scared of snakes and bears by the end of the summer too! (from what I hear there are tons of them that hide under the lily pads in the water!)[Please Note: this is my fear and I have been told by a reliable source that it is not true at Camp Howe!]. Coming to the states. I will miss my puppy Ruby who is 1 and my car, called Pepper. However, I am looking forward to meeting everyone, having fun, visiting New York and getting some sunshine! (very rare in Scotland!)"

Camp Howe has become a large part of my family and holds a special place in my heart."

"I have lived in Sydney, Australia my whole life. I went to Westfields Sports High (which is the same High School the Executive Director attended MANY years before me!), then Cecil Hills High. I have completed a Bachelor of Health science (PDHPE) and a Masters of Teaching (Secondary). I love playing any kind of sport (adrenalin activities such as skydiving), catching up with friends, nature (such as patting tigers and swimming with dolphins) and TRAVELLING! I am looking forward to meeting all of the campers and learning more about the US culture. Something random about me: I have been bitten by a tiger!"

"I am a pre-vet student at UMass Amherst and I manage the UMass Belted Galloway herd and work at Rocking M Ranch, another farm that has Belties!  I like to fit cows for shows and can't wait till show season in May! I miss Betsy-Bighead and Buttercup from last summer.  They should be having their first calves around now, I wonder they look like!? I am extremely excited about getting the animals in for the farm; I can't wait to see what we get!"

"Hi, I am Caleb.I am currently attending Northern Arizona University as a Sophomore Broadcast Journalism major. I am the oldest of 4 boys, and i am a complete goof ball. There will rarely be a time when you see me without a smile, i love to smile!!!! In High School I did dance and theatre, as well as Student Council. On top of that i was involved in a number of clubs and i participated in Cross Country/Track and Field. These were things that i was able to put all that extra energy i had laying around into.  I look forward to expanding my mind and blending my creativity with that of so many others.: )"

I want to be an animal behavorist, which means I have to pursue a PHD, which also means I will be in school till I am 30 basically. I have never worked at a camp before or even attended a camp.  So this is an exciting new experience for me and I can not wiat to embark on this journey. I think one of my favorite things to do is ice breakers and I hope we get to do a lot at camp. I also am excited to be in the middle of the forest and away from a big city."

"Hi everyone... This summer I’m going to be working as a junior counselor and kitchen assistant. I’ve been coming to Camp Howe for the past four years as a camper and feel like every summer it’s camp that changes me the most. I love meeting new people and trying new things and I can’t wait to experience camp with everyone this summer. I’ve lived my whole life in Northampton and because of this have a personality that is open and extremely energetic. In my spare time I try to spent my time outdoors and just enjoy what it has to offer. A few random facts about me are I love fast music, dancing (not well); bright colors and going for swims in a close by river on summer days. "Elizabeth teaches health, human development, and family consumer science in a nearby public high school.  She is also an EMT with the local Rescue Squad- Highland EMS which covers 7 towns including Goshen.  This year she is the local Emergency Management Deputy Director for Goshen, training to be the director next fiscal year.  If you have a question about health, a boo-boo, medical emergency or disaster- she is the gal to go to! Message from Elizabeth and her family- We think that Camp Howe is the greatest camp in western MA, if not the entire Earth!  My little girls, Anna and Lauren will grow up to be "Howe Girls" as they have come with me (from all of 3 miles away!) every summer and graduate into regular campers.  Our thanks to Terrie and Hedi for their continued efforts to improve camper and staff experiences!"

I love living in New England and going apple picking in the Fall. My favorite color is Green. I like theater, art, soccer, reading, singing, and making up silly dances. My weakness when it comes to food is anything Italian. Some of my hobbies include coaching, playing with my dog, Maddie, hiking, 4-wheeler riding, white water rafting (wish I could do it more) and bike riding. I have only lived in Indiana, but on both ends of the state. Random fact, I used to own a pet turtle named Turdie. I am looking forward to meeting new people and making a lot of new friends and memories. And of course going to someplace new is always exciting."

"Hi!  This is my ninth summer of taking care of the health needs of campers and staff.  During the year (and through the summer as well) I also work as the Director of Health Services for a local school district.  I am a registered nurse and received my Bachelor's degree from Fitchburg State College many moons ago.  I am currently working on my Masters in Education, again through FSC.  I have worked in pediatric nursing for most of my career, both in inpatient and community settings.  I feel privileged to have been a part of Camp Howe for so long and to have watched so many of the campers and staff (including my own four children, one now a staff member) grow up before my eyes.  Camp Howe has a very special place in my heart and is my family's "home away from home".  Thank you to Terrie and Heidi and Kimi for coming back year after year and "MAKING THE BEST BETTER"!!"

"This is my fifth season on staff at Howe.
This is the summer camp I went to as a kid, and the one that is nearest to my heart. I am a full time pharmacist and soon to graduate as a nurse. My favorite place at camp is definitely the waterfront. I could spend all day every day by the water if I could. I am a both a lifeguard and an instructor of lifeguarding (including first aid and CPR). In fact, I have certifications in most areas of camp - ropes course, archery, boating - just to name a few. "This will be my second year at Camp Howe, along with my friend, Barry the Beaver. We have had some crazy times over the past winter, not letting Barry get his sleep has put a damper on the relationship. For those guys and gals who don't know a lick about this guy, I'm as crazy as you can get, I love to be wild and out of the box. If you like to get your hands dirty, or your clothes wet you and me are two peas in a pod. Hiking has to be one of my favorite activites, along with canoeing with my friends, going adventuring in the woods, and finding out new mysteries about nature. I guess that's why I'm a camp counselor!! Can't wait until I can meet some new faces, and see those guys from last year!"
