Just for Day Campers
Camp Howe is first and foremost a sleepaway camp—and that’s exactly what makes our Day Camp so special. Each summer, we open a limited number of Day Camp spots for families in our local community who want the full camp experience without the overnight stay.
Our Day Campers are fully woven into camp life. They’re placed in residential cabin groups, participate in the same activities as our overnight campers, and spend the day adventuring right alongside their cabinmates and counselors. The only difference? They head home to sleep in their own beds.
If you're looking for a program that feels like real camp—not childcare—you’re in the right place. We’re so excited to welcome your camper and help them jump into a week filled with friendship, discovery, and pure summer fun.

Monday Morning
Time: 8:30–9:00 AM

Only those listed will be allowed to pick up your camper for safety reasons.

To help maintain the unplugged, community-based feel of camp, we ask that Day Campers do not bring:
-

Weapons
These items tend to get lost, damaged, or cause distraction.
Sunscreen & Hydration
Staff remind campers to reapply sunscreen and drink water throughout the day.
Trying to decide between Day Camp and Overnight Camp?
Start by thinking about your child’s comfort level and readiness for independence. Day Camp is a great option for younger campers or first-timers who thrive with a familiar bedtime routine at home while still enjoying full, fun-filled days of adventure at Camp Howe. Overnight Camp adds the magic of evenings under the stars, campfires, and cabin life—helping campers grow in confidence, responsibility, and friendships that last well beyond summer. Many families start with Day Camp and later transition to Overnight Camp as their child’s confidence grows.

Here are some questions to help you decide if the time is right:
-
Has your child attended day camp programs or team sports before?
-
Have they spent a night or more away from family?
-
Can your child manage basic responsibilities like brushing teeth, getting dressed, or organizing their belongings with minimal help?
-
How easily do they make friends and get along with peers?
-
Are they comfortable communicating needs or concerns to adults?
-
Do they enjoy meeting new people and trying new activities?
-
How do they respond when talking about being away from home—excited or anxious?
-
Do they show interest in the camp experience and activities offered?
-
And perhaps most importantly—are you ready for them to go away to camp?
Remember, readiness looks different for every child. Camp Howe staff are experienced in supporting first-time campers and helping each child feel comfortable, confident, and successful.
