Food

Meals are prepared by a dedicated crew in the kitchen. Many work at local colleges and love the change in serving youth. The meals balance being nutritious and kid-friendly. In addition to the meal served, there are always other choices, from sandwiches to the salad bar.

Examples of the Food Served
BREAKFAST: Eggs, sausage, bacon, waffles, pancakes, smoothies, oatmeal.

LUNCH: Sandwiches, hot dogs, burgers, chicken burgers, quesadillas, chips and salads, pasta salad, quinoa, chicken salad

DINNER: Meatballs, spaghetti, BBQ chicken, pizza, fried rice, tacos

For each meal, we offer vegetarian options.

If you’re unsure whether your child will have trouble with the options provided (e.g., unusually picky eater, food anxiety, oral sensory issues, dietary restrictions/allergies), please get in touch with us to learn how we may be able to work together to make camp possible.

Facilities

Camp Howe consists of 40 buildings spread out within a 52-acre area surrounded by 1700 acres of DAR State Forest. Our camp is nature-themed, green and brown, and aligns with being in nature.

Camp Howe's bunk capacity ranges from 4 to 9 bunks in each cabin, providing a total of 200 beds. The unheated cabins are equipped with lights, electricity, bunks and mattresses. Centralized bathhouses with toilets and hot showers are located nearby.

Wheelchair-accessible buildings currently include the office, dining hall, multipurpose recreation hall, camper cabins, and bathrooms.
